COACHING METHODOLOGY & ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT

THE STRUCTURE BEHIND THE PERFORMANCE

Figure skating is built upon three foundational milestones: recitals, official US Figure Skating tests, and competitive events. Together, these events cultivate discipline, instill intrinsic motivation, and foster friendships & a skating community.

THE THREE CORE PILLARS

Why Defined Milestones Shape Complete Athletes

Every season demands intentional periodization. Without tangible performance deadlines, athletic progress plateaus. By setting strict deadlines for recitals, tests, and competitions, skaters develop discipline, accountability, and resilience.

PILLAR 01

Recitals & Exhibitions

Recitals offer skaters a beginning sanctuary free of scores and placements. They develop confidence, musicality, a genuine stage presence, all while strengthening skills across US Figure Skating levels.

PILLAR 02

Standard Testing Sessions

Tests measure technical mastery—from Moves in the Field to Free Skate requirements. Passing tests officially qualifies athletes for competitive levels and instills pride in incremental mastery.

Competitions

Competition creates structured training whereby disciplined daily repetition meets mental fortitude. It teaches goal-setting, composure under nervousness, and how to convert scoring feed back into measurable refinement.
